Hot Weather

Sunshine and warm weather make a welcome return but we always advise our patients to take care as well as enjoy themselves.

Some antipsychotics and other medications can make you more sun sensitive.

Lithium is a drug that helps mood stability but depends on fluid levels being with normal range so as you dry out in the hot weather the potential dehydration can lead to higher lithium levels so its important to keep normally hydrated even in this lovely weather.

The same applies when you go on holiday.

Keep safe. Use sun cream with a high spf and also keep normally hydrated.

Seeing patients face to face

Meeting you and the opportunity to meet face to face remains very important

We Are Open

During this difficult time we are open. We have stopped face to face consultations but instead started face to face video consultation and telephone consultation.
Please phone up and speak with Debbie. She is typically available Monday to Thursday 10-4. If she not available please do leave a message and well get back to you as soon as possible.

Pilates at Home

Staying well or getting well, if your staying at home can be harder. Exercise and improving fitness can help give you mental wellbeing, resillience and help you recover.

Mental health and physical health are tied together and I advocate physical fitness and exercise.

With kind permission from Adam I have linked to his Start Strong series of Pilates 10 minute videos. Why not spend your time at home getting better. Mental Health is improved by exercise.

Telephone or Video appointments

We are now moving from face to face appointments to telephone or video appointments.

We aim to keep all appointments but inevitably this may have to change. Please keep an eye on your email or answer your phones and our admin will be in touch to confirm the arrangements with you in line with your preferences.

Maintaining Mental Health in isolation

Some people are still having to stay isolated.

We have video tools that can help to connect to us and we developed these during lockdowns. I still hope to meet everyone for at least one appointment face to face and run a clinic in Romsey for this purpose.

We hope to bring you recommendations to help keep you mentally well.

Get online- Use of Video calling and video sharing tools can help bring you closer. Many apps and tools exist but Facebook, Apple Face time, Skype are amongst the most famous and well recognised. Whether you use your laptop, desktop, TV or smartphone the choice is yours. Most are free but there are paid for options.

Take the time to meet with people that you are close to and also think of those that you might not otherwise join up with.

You could even start or join a group chat. I’ve heard of family’s each baking a cake together, in different places and then having a bake off/ cook along taster.

Some people have done exercise classes together, and others have offered or joined education lessons or groups.

Wash your hands for 20 Seconds

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
