Training and Career
Dr Roberts trained as a doctor at The Royal London Hospital and St Bartholomews Hospital in Whitechapel, London also completing an intercalated degree in experimental pathology.
He then spent 18 months working in the East End of London before moving to Hampshire where he specialised as a psychiatrist gaining full membership of the Royal College Of Psychiatrists and accreditation with the GMC as a consultant specialist in adult and old age psychiatry.
During his training he gained a Diploma in Occupational Medicine reinforcing his views of the importance of a recovery focus. Dr Roberts chose to work predominantly with psychiatry of working age adults.
Whilst completing his training in Wessex, Dr Roberts gained experience within adult psychiatry, old age psychiatry, learning disability and forensic psychiatry settings. Dr Roberts has a special interest in psychiatry within occupational health.
Dr Roberts works as an NHS Community Consultant Psychiatrist for Southern Health Foundation NHS Trust and is a Lead Tutor teaching Undergraduate Psychiatry for The University of Southampton.
Since 2023 he was awarded the Fellowship of The Royal College of Psychiatrists and has also been recognised as an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer Post for Southampton University
